Blood Drive   top  >

Every six weeks, we co-sponsor a blood drive with our friends across the street at Church of the Good Shepherd. Together, we have exceeded our goal of 40 donors and are hoping to top our new goal of 50 donors. Our next Red Cross blood drive will be held on on Sun., July 18, 7:30 am - 12:00 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Appointments are needed. You may sign up online by clicking this link. In the middle of the page, select Find a Mobile Blood Drive. In the top right corner, select Search by Sponsor, and enter your email address, birthdate, and our sponsor code, 12952.

You can also call Beth Fields or the church office for an appointment, or for more information. Donations are down in the summertime, so please try to help! While donations are not tax deductible, they are life-saving!

Annual All-Church Retreat   top  >

The 22nd annual First Presbyterian Church All-Church Retreat took place March 5 -7, 2010.

Every year, we travel as a church family to the Montreat Conference Center in beautiful Montreat, NC. The weekend is filled with inspirational discussions and fun, family-oriented activities. This year, Dr. Ernie T. Thompson, Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC led us during the weekend of the retreat, with lectures and discussion sessions that shed light on this year's theme, "The Seven Toughest Questions Christians Face."

Our All-Church Retreat is an annual event; we hope you'll choose to join us next March. Click here for more information about the 2010 retreat.

Spiritual Enrichment Weekend   top  >

Our 2009 Spiritual Enrichment weekend, Oct. 30- Nov. 1, featured guest lecturer and spiritual leader Dr. Frances Taylor Gench. Dr. Gench is a professor of New Testament at Union - PSCE in Richmond. She spent the weekend at FPC to teach, challenge and inspire us.

Frances is a very thoughtful and inspiring teacher whose profound scholarship helps students plumb the depths of the Scriptures. Many of our adult church school classes have profited from studying her book, Encounters with Jesus, which has guided many of us through the gospel of John.

Dr. Gench led a Saturday morning session, both Sunday services, and Sunday lunch.

Each year, a prayer vigil serves as the introduction to the weekend of spiritual enrichment for the entire church community. During the vigil, we pray for every member of the church by name.

2010 Habitat Build  top  >

Lot 203 Myers Ave, Raleigh NC.

Our first volunteer day was Saturday March 13th, and our homeowners are Bennie Best and Jo Ann Kincy. We are again partnering with White Memorial. Both Bennie and Jo Ann were born with congenital glaucoma, and their site became severely limited as teenagers.  They both have some vision, and are able to move around familiar places without a cane.  They will begin donating their sweat equity in the ReStore and Office, but would eventually like to be able to complete some work on their own home.

Disciple Bible Study is a disciplined Bible study for adults aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. It focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group. Groups meet weekly from September through May. Participants prepare for each meeting by reading daily scripture lessons and doing workbook assignments. Each class begins with a video segment led by Bible scholars and includes small and larger group discussion.

Disciple II: Into the Word, Into the World is a 32-week study of Genesis/Exodus and Luke/Acts. Beneficial to any adult, regardless of his or her previous Bible Study experience. Disciple II classes are being offered starting this fall:
