Dinner at the Middleburg Steak House
In August 2006, we gathered for an
evening of good food and fellowship. We dined at the unique Middleburg
Steak House, which is in a beautiful, old building with a large fireplace and rough,
hand-cut logs, creating a rustic, cozy atmosphere for a delicious dinner.
Day Trip to Rose Hill
In June 2006, we took a day trip to the Duplin Winery, in Rose Hill, NC. We
enjoyed a day of fun, food, and fellowship. We viewed a film about winemaking,
toured the winery, had lunch at the Bistro Restaurant, and did a little shopping.
Trip to Tidewater, Virginia
We took a trip to Virginia May 10–13 to see the following sites in the Norfolk area:
We took a lunch cruise of the harbor
and saw the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet. We went to
the Norfolk Botanical Garden and took some time for shopping and casual touring. On the
way back, we had time to stop at Smithfield, Virginia, for a tour of Bacon’s Castle,
a Jacobean-Style house
built in 1665.
Day Trip to Concord, NC top >
Our first day trip of 2006 was Friday, April 7, when we toured Concord, NC.
Our first stop was the beautiful Memorial Gardens at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord. After lunch
at Emma's, we visited the Cannon Memorial Library to see a mural painted in 1939 by James McLean depicting the early history of Concord.
We also drove down Union Street to see some of the older homes in the town. We finished the day with a stop at the Cabarrus Creamery and Shops for ice cream and shopping.
Annual Christmas Lunch top >
We have an annual Christmas Lunch at the Cardinal Club in downtown Raleigh.
Plan to join us this year for fun, fellowship, good food, door prizes, entertainment,
and some surprises. The cost of the meal, including tax and tip, will be
about $20. We hope to offer a van service to Glenaire, as in years past.
We will publish a definite date and time in November in the Church newsletter.
If you want to help with the planning of this event, call Emalyne Walls
or Glenn Rose.
Annual Christmas Shopping Jaunt top >
Each year in early November, Adult Fellowship makes a trek to Bear Creek,
NC for shopping at Bear Creek and Southern Supreme Gourmet Specialties.
We do our shopping for Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts and cakes. We also
enjoy each other’s company, including lunch together at the Westmoore
Family Restaurant in Seagrove, NC. The cost of the trip is about $8/person,
plus whatever you spend for your lunch and anything you decide to buy.
The date of this year’s trip will be announced in October in the Church
newsletter.
